During the New Year's Day holiday, Xuchang launched the Winter Cultural & Tourism Consumption Season themed "Winter Tour in Xuchang: Chasing Plum Blossoms in Snow", centering on the highlights of "Cao Wei & Three Kingdoms Culture, Colorful Jun Porcelain Art, and Flower & Hot Spring Resorts". Over 100 cultural and tourism performances and events were organized, along with 6 premium winter tour routes including "Cao Wei Ancient Capital Time-travel Tour", "Seeking Plum-blossoms in the Snow & Hot Spring Tour", "Jun Porcelain Artisan Experience Tour" and "Pangdonglai Quality Consumption Tour". These offerings presented a festive carnival integrating art feasts, intangible cultural heritage (ICH) experiences and ice-snow fun for local residents and tourists alike. Breaking through the snow and ice to embrace the new year, Xuchang showcased its unique city character of leisure, comfort, happiness and beauty.
The holiday tourism market responded with overwhelming enthusiasm. Boasting abundant supply and brilliant culture promotion activities, Xuchang’s cultural and tourism consumption kept heating up, marking a fantastic start for the local market. According to big data monitoring, the city received 2.46 million tourist visits during the holiday, generating 1.72 billion yuan in revenue. The "Pangdonglai shopping tour" remained a major attraction, with the combination of Cao Wei-culture performances and shopping drawing nearly 1.5 million visits over the three-day holiday, among which the Angel City store set a new single-day record with 162,000 visitors on January 2. Travel agencies promoted hot spring tours with special offers, further energizing the market. Hotels and homestays, such as Huadu Hot Spring and Huaquanli, reached nearly 100% occupancy.
Traditional culture emerged as the most eye-catching highlight of Xuchang’s holiday market. Shenhou Ancient Town hosted the "Encounter Shenhou" New Year's Day series of events, inviting tourists to wander in the ancient town, appreciate Jun porcelain, and watch performances for an all-in-one folk custom experience. Caowei Happy City staged a countdown light show on the "Eye of Xudu" Ferris wheel and a "Xudu Prosperity Bonfire" blessing dance on New Year's Eve. The Huazhidu Starry Sky Camping Base held a " New Year's Celebration & Fun Garden Party". Scenic spots including Chunqiu Tower, Baliang Bridge and Prime Minister Cao’s Mansion offered half-price tickets for visitors wearing Hanfu. Dahongzhai Scenic Area launched discounted ticket packages under the campaign of "Winter Tour Dahongzhai & Celebrate a Joyful New Year". Meanwhile, venues like China Jun Porcelain Cultural Park, Pacun Porcelain Cultural Park and Qingshan Pharmaceutical Traditional Chinese Medicine Cultural Park rolled out ICH experience sessions and consumption discounts on featured products, drawing a steady stream of tourists. The integration of fun interactive games and immersive experiences crafted a spectacular New Year’s Eve feast for all visitors.
